We are seeking a passionate and skilled Japanese Language Teacher to join our growing specialist team.
The Role: Japanese Language Teacher (Years 1–10)
This role is a specialist position delivering daily Japanese language instruction across Years 1–10 through small, cross-grouped classes.
The program aligns with elements of the Japanese national curriculum while integrating Aurora’s inquiry-based, student-centered philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Japanese lessons each day to grouped classes across year levels
Teach students with a wide range of abilities through differentiated instruction
Design engaging lessons that build language proficiency, cultural understanding, and confidence
Assess and monitor student progress using formative and ongoing assessment practices
Collaborate with homeroom teachers and leadership to support integrated learning experiences
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
Developing and maintaining positive parent partnerships

Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor’s Degree (Education, Japanese Language, or related field)
Teaching certification or equivalent
Minimum 2-year experience of teaching Japanese as a first or additional language
Ability to differentiate for mixed-age and mixed-ability groups
Medium to high level of English proficiency (spoken and written)
Preferred
Experience teaching within the Japanese education system
Experience in international schools or multicultural settings
Familiarity with inquiry-based or student-centered approaches
Experience supporting diverse learners
